What is Cinnaminta?

Cinnaminta is a free online service which enables you to request your poems, original writing, celebrations, acts of remembrance, prayers, messages or anything else to be read out aloud in places around the world which are special for you but which you cannot easily visit. Cinnaminta allows you to choose a reader or offer to be a reader for someone else and enables a multi-media recording of the reading to be shared, free, with friends and family or, if appropriate, the whole world.

Cinnaminta is a new form of social networking which takes the internet beyond an environment in which you simply post your work in public and wait for comments to one in which you can also actively request readings or performances, help others by reading or performing their requests and enter into two-way communication with people around the world through shared reading of prayers, acts of remembrance, poems, celebrations, etc.

Cinnaminta also enables you to support an online petition, start your own petition or offer to deliver a petition for somebody else. Cinnaminta provides a free facility for the whole world to see the multi-media recording of the delivery of the petition statement.

Cinnaminta can be:

  • an opportunity to see how others interpret your writing;
  • a message to a loved one;
  • a remote candle at a shrine or flowers at a grave;
  • a distant prayer or virtual pilgrimage;
  • a petition or complaint; or
  • whatever you want to achieve through reading out aloud.

Cinnaminta is the online service for people who would like to maintain some spiritual attachment with their friends, families, ancestors and culture through reading out aloud.

Cinnaminta enables you to speak out aloud from the internet in places that you cannot easily visit. Through Cinnaminta, you will be able to:

  • reach out, connect, share and develop with other cultures around the world;
  • cross closed borders and cultural divides as a virtual traveller with minimal environmental impact;
  • become an active part of a global expression of humanity; and
  • discover the joy of shared writing and reading out aloud.

The Cinnaminta team expect that people will find all sort of ways to use the services such as group readings, singing, dancing, mime, translations, performance art and plenty more that we have not thought of. We are looking forwards to seeing how Cinnaminta will develop. We hope that you will enjoy the experience but have to admit that we don't know quite where it will lead.

The possibilities appear endless - how will you 'leave no footprints, only vibrations'?

We would welcome any suggestions for ways in which we can improve the service to support your ideas for co-operative global communication through interactive writing and reading out aloud.

regards, Cinnaminta
